Flood update: for Seymour court users and others affected by the floods
The Magistrates’ Court of Victoria acknowledges the impacts the current floods are having on communities across Victoria. Recognising these challenges, the court is adjusting its operations as below.
Seymour court building is closed until further notice.

All other courts are currently unaffected by the floods and are operating as usual.
If you are flood affected and have an upcoming hearing at a Magistrates’ Court location not listed above and you cannot attend your hearing, you can:
- speak to your lawyer, if you have one, to assist you in arranging an adjournment or online hearing.
- If you don’t have a lawyer, click here to request an adjournment via email. Please include your name, case number (if known) and the court where your matter is to be heard, as well as a contact number in case the court needs to speak to you. The court will advise you of your new hearing date in due course.
The Magistrates’ Court is experiencing higher than usual volumes of emails and phone calls at this time so please do not follow up with a further email or phone call. You will receive a receipt that your email has been received.
- If you would like your matter to be heard online, you should contact the court where your matter is listed to discuss how to arrange this.
If your matter is a Family Violence or Personal Safety Intervention Order proceeding and there is a current order for your protection, the order will continue in force during a period of adjournment. If it is a new application and requires urgent consideration of an issue of safety, please contact the court to arrange your attendance online, by telephone or in person.
If you are at immediate risk of harm please contact 000.
