If you are looking to take the next step in your career, apply to be part of the Magistrates’ Court of Victoria’s Trainee Court Registrar (TCR) program and step into a career administering justice to all Victorians.

The Trainee Court Registrar program is suited to candidates that are organised, professional and who have strong communication and interpersonal skills. 

Successful candidates will take part in an 18-month training program designed to build your skills and confidence across all aspects of court operations. At the conclusion of the program, TCRs will play an important role in supporting the court's judicial officers and ensuring the courtroom runs smoothly, including: 

  • coordinating court hearings

  • making announcements and swearing in witnesses 

  • operating courtroom technology and courtroom logistics 

  • liaising with the profession, including police officers and lawyers

  • managing documents and case files

  • providing procedural advice.
