Upcoming works at Melbourne Magistrates' Court

As part of the Specialist Family Violence Courts (SFVC) construction works at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court, there are number of works coming up that will impact areas around the building.

Partial road closure – William Street

On Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 September 2025, 8.00am–3.00pm, the Northbound Lane of William Street between Lonsdale Street and Little Lonsdale Street will be closed to install a gantry and scaffold. William Street’s southbound lane will remain open, and trams will be operational. The gantry and scaffolding will remain in place until early December 2025.

Partial footpath closure

Hoarding and scaffolding installation works will occur from 9.30am-3.00pm on Monday 22 September to Thursday 25 September 2025, at the corner of William and Lonsdale Streets.

Noisy works

Noisy works are scheduled between Monday 6 October to Sunday 12 October 2025.

Noisy works will take place during business hours only. As the works are external, Council regulations prohibit noisy activities after hours due to the presence of nearby residents.

Traffic management signage and detour routes will be in place to guide pedestrians and court users.
