Revoked - Expansion of the fast tracking listing process to the Court at Broadmeadows and Shepparton - Practice Direction 7 of 2015
It is well known with family violence cases that the rate of recidivism for crimes of violence against intimate partners is much greater than crimes of violence against strangers. Accordingly, the Magistrates’ Court of Victoria (the Court) has commenced the introduction in stages of a fast tracking listing process of these cases. The first stage commenced at the Court at Dandenong on 1 December 2014.
On 9 April 2015, I issued Practice Direction number 4 of 2015, which started the second stage at the Court at Broadmeadows and Shepparton. However, shortly after issuing that Practice Direction, I suspended its operation. The need for the suspension has now gone. For the sake of convenience, I will revoke that practice direction and issue this one.
