Updates to how people can apply to change or cancel an intervention order

The process for making an application to vary, extend or revoke (cancel) an intervention order has been updated to make it more accessible.

Applicants and affected family members (AFMs) in a family violence matter can now apply to have an intervention order changed through a dedicated online portal.

In addition, respondents to a family violence intervention order, who need permission to seek changes to their order, can lodge their form using the online platform, DocuSign

Parties seeking to apply to change an intervention order are still able to do so by completing the hard copy form and submitting it at the relevant court.

Other updates include:

  • Forms are now organised by application type. For example, applications to vary, extend or revoke an order, or applications to request permission from the Court to apply.

  • The forms include focused questions to help provide clearer and more useful information to the judicial officer and better reflect the applicant’s needs.

  • Applicants will need to complete a Declaration of truth to confirm their information is accurate and understand the consequences of giving false details.

  • The forms are designed to support inclusivity and safety, applicants can now include their preferred name, legal name, and pronouns.
