Remote Custody Court (RCC)
The Magistrates' Court of Victoria operates six Remote Custody Courts (RCCs) for matters listed at Melbourne, Dandenong, Ringwood and Broadmeadows.
The RCC is an online-only court which hears bail related applications (excluding first remands) and matters proceeding as a plea of guilty for those in custody via video link.
Matters will remain listed at the relevant proper venue but will be heard online by judicial officers who are based at the RCC.
The RCC will hear:
- booked in bail applications; and
- booked in custody pleas including consolidations.
If bail is granted, the matter will be returned to the proper venue for hearing.
The RCC will not hear:
- first remands;
- any matter where the accused is required to appear in person.
