Party/parties

People or companies involved in a legal matter. 

Personal safety intervention order

A court order to protect a person, their children and their property from another person who is not a family member. 

Plaintiff

A person who brings a civil matter against another person or company.

Plea

A formal statement by or on behalf of an accused person, stating guilt or innocence in response to a charge.

Proper venue

The court venue where a legal matter should be heard.

Prosecuting agency

The agency who made the charge for an offence – for example, police or council.

Prosecutor

The person who appears in court to present the case against the accused person in a hearing.

Protected person

A person who is seeking protection through an intervention order.
